Frequently Asked Questions
Does Transkript work on my older iPhone/Mac?
Transkript relies on Apple Intelligence, which requires a device with an Apple Silicon chip (iPhone 15 Pro, iPads with M1/M2/M4, and Macs with M1/M2/M3/M4 chips). It also requires iOS 26+ or macOS 26+.
Is my audio uploaded to the cloud?
No. Your privacy is our top priority. All transcription, speaker recognition, and data processing happen 100% locally on your device using Apple's Neural Engine. Your data never leaves your phone or Mac by default. However, you can freely choose a custom storage location (e.g., iCloud) if you prefer.
Can I rename speakers (e.g., "Speaker 1" to "John")?
Yes! Since version 3.6, you can rename speakers directly in the transcript. Simply tap on the speaker label (e.g., "Speaker A") and enter the person's name. The change is applied to all segments from that speaker.
Can I enhance audio quality before transcription?
Yes! Transkript includes an Audio Enhancement feature that optimizes recordings for better transcription. It applies a high-pass filter (removes low rumble), boosts speech frequencies, and normalizes volume. Look for the "Enhance Audio" option before starting transcription.
How do meeting summaries handle action items?
When you choose the Meeting summary style,
Transkript specifically focuses on extracting:
β’ Topics discussed
β’ Decisions & agreements made during the meeting
β’ Action items / TODOs with responsible persons
This makes it perfect for capturing meeting minutes.
Can I edit the transcript after it's generated?
Yes! Tap the Edit button in the transcript view to enable editing mode. You can correct any mistakes directly in the text. Your edits are automatically saved to the session.
What export formats are available?
You can export your work in several formats:
β’ TXT: Plain text transcript
β’ SRT/VTT: Subtitles for video (with
timestamps)
β’ JSON: Structured data for
developers
β’ PDF/DOCX: Formatted summaries and
reports
Why can't the app access my microphone?
Please check your iOS/macOS Privacy settings: go to Settings β Privacy & Security β Microphone and ensure Transkript is toggled ON.
